Baltimore born Julia Rose writes and sings romantic ballads and
delivers them with her powerful, full bodied voice. Her music is
described as "alternative acoustic folk music" inspired by her experiences,
including what it's like to be homeless in the streets of Fells
Point. Julia has developed a style that is tough yet gentle, brash
yet intimate. The gifted artist now plays dozens of east coast venues
in the New York to Washington corridor including Blues Alley, Ram's Head Tavern, The Birchmere
and the Bitter End in New York. Her engaging and lyrical CD Suspended
in Air will be available for sale during Julia's performance.
Julia unabashedly engages the audience at Rappahannock Coffee>
on a personal level inviting jokes, stories, barbs and laughter.
She makes the whole place part of the show, making friends of everyone.
Her performance is somewhat enigmatic, starting with a proclamation
of shyness and the warm lyrics of a troubled life peppered with
standup comedy and open verbal challenges to anyone within earshot.
Avoiding eye contact with her won't save you. It's an enormous amount
of fun and you won't want to miss it. Oh, and don't bother asking
for anything but her original music. She doesn't do covers!
